Fall’s favorite family holiday is nearly here! Pop-up costume stores abound and new, larger than life-like decorations are taking over homes. It is not surprising Halloween has become one of the largest “holidays”! Be sure to take your tricks and treats further to your kitchen with fun and easy ideas from both The Olive Tap and a few creative foodie bloggers, all of which we all appreciate.

While many of you might be “frightened” to get creative and make a recipe “your own”, it is fun to experiment, especially on Halloween! We hope you will find our recipe adaptations as easy to follow as the recipe itself.

Skeleton Riserva Caprese Cabobs
Take your Cabobs to a scary level by using Halloween Food Molds for the fresh mozzarella and drizzle the cabobs with fresh “balsamic vinegar blood” using our Aceto Balsamic di Modena, Riserva. Deadly delicious!
Our Traditional Recipe: Riserva Caprese Cabobs
Recipe Adaptation Instructions:
New Tool: SiliconeFood Mold.
Preparing the Mozzarella Skulls or Food Mold of Choice:
- 1.Add your fresh mozzarella cheese to Halloween Silicone Food Molds (ShopHalloween Silicone Molds – ensure they are bakeable).
- 2.Press the appropriate size chunk of mozzarella into the mold. Add the filled mold to a baking dish and bake on 350 F for 5-8 minutes (vary time by size of the mold) or until they are melted just enough to form into the mold.
- 3.Once the mozzarella is properly melted, let the mold cool for 5 minutes and then refrigerate for 5-10 minutes.
- 4.Continue the assembly and follow the recipe instructions as directed in our Riserva Caprese Cabobs Recipe including drizzling the cabobs with our Aceto Balsamic di Modena Riserva!

Ghostly Pesto Pizza
We simply added a few ghosts to our unique Pesto Pizza Recipe for a fun Halloween twist. Be sure to not “sever” the ghost with your pizza cutter!
Our Traditional Recipe: Pesto Pizza with Roasted Garlic & Tomatoes
Recipe Adaptation Instructions:
New Ingredients:
- Sliced Mozzarella Cheese Slices – 6-8 (depending upon cheese level preference)
- GhostCookie Cutters (small enough to cut at least 1-2 ghosts from the cheese) or another adaptable Halloween Cookie Cutter.
- Chopped Black Olives for Ghost Eyes or for non-Olive lovers, Aceto Balsamic di Modena Riserva Drops, for use post baking.
- Additional Instructions
- 1.Take cheese slices and cut out the Ghosts with the cookie cutter while the cheese is cold. Set aside on a plate at room temperature.
- 2.Bake the prepared pizza, per the Recipe until light brown and bubbling, about 10 minutes.
- 3.After this step, remove pizza from oven and lightly sprinkle with 1/3 of parmesan cheese.
- 4.Thereafter, quickly arrange sliced tomatoes and ghosts on top of the pizza along with the black olives for the ghost eyes.
- 5.Season with salt & pepper to taste.
- 6.Return the pizza to oven another 3-5 minutes or until cheese melts.
- 7.Immediately transfer to a board and drizzle in the Ghost Eyes with Riserva if you did not already use olives.
- 8.Cut “strategically” (to not sever a ghost) and serve. Repeat for two remaining pizzas.
- 9.Serve the remaining parmesan cheese with the pizza when served. Note: This recipe uses a high-heat approach, so please watch the pizzas carefully to prevent burning.

Spooky Eyeball Scallops in Paprika over Squid Ink Pasta
Our spooky, scary yet exceptional Scallop Recipe, featuring The Olive Tap’s Roasted Garlic Olive Oil with Smoked Paprika over a Zesty Lemon Garlic Squid Ink Pasta.
Our Traditional Recipe: Scallops in Paprika
Recipe Adaptation Instructions:
New Ingredients:
- 1 lb. Squid Ink Spaghetti
- Freshly Shaved Parmesan Cheese
- Lemon Zest (1 – 2 T)
Preparing the Pasta:
- 1.Bring 4 quarts of generously salted water to boil. Cook the pasta until just under al dente (note, it will cook a pinch more. Drizzled with Roasted Garlic Olive Oil.
- 2.Prepare the Scallops per our Traditional Scallops in Paprika Recipe.
- 3.Serve over the prepared Squid Ink Pasta, garnish with Lemon Zest and serve.

Decadent Dessert
Berries with Dark Chocolate Balsamic Vinegar and Ghouls
A simple and tasty dessert for Halloween is sure to impress all the ghouls and spirits in your household.
Our Traditional Recipe: Berries with Dark Balsamic Vinegar
New Ingredients:
- Mini Chocolate Chips (12 chips) – 1 set per Ghoul
Tool: Small Paint Brush
Additional Instructions:
- Using Dark Chocolate Balsamic Vinegar, paint RIP on the top end of the biscotti or any alternate flat cookie of your preference and set aside.
- Place the mascarpone cheese in a pastry bag to create a ghoulish shape over the berries and vinegar.
- Carefully place the RIP Cookies in the berries.
- Add the two chocolate chips for eyes and serve.
