Amazing and Fresh Greek EVOOs Now at The Olive Tap
Greek 100% Extra Virgin Olive Oils for 2025
In the world of premium extra virgin olive oils, February and March are the most exciting times. Fresh Greek EVOOs from the November 2024 harvest began to arrive at The Olive Tap stores to the absolute delight of our longtime and loyal customer base. This year’s varietals from Greece are amazing and at least one of them should be in your pantry.
Our highlighted selection of fresh Greek EVOOs for 2025 have completed their journey directly to our stores and are ready to be bottled just for you. These oils come to us from a small family estate where 5 generations have made award winning oils.
Four Premium EVOOs
The 4 premium oils are Kalamata 100% EVOO, Athenolia 100% EVOO, Koroneiki 100% EVOO, and Kalamata Ultra High Polyphenol 100% EVOO. These olive oils all exhibit distinct flavors and aromas. In addition, the Kalamata 100% EVOO has a polyphenol level well above your typical 100% Extra Virgin Olive Oil. All these fresh Greek EVOOs will pair beautifully with The Olive Tap’s extensive selection of Balsamic and Specialty Vinegars. These oils are unfiltered, so you may see harmless sediment on the bottom of the bottle.
Athenolia 100% Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Athenolia 100% Extra Virgin Olive Oil has been a personal favorite of our owner since 2010, when we first found a supplier of this exquisite oil. Named after the goddess Athena, this oil is revered for its fruity flavor and aroma, buttery texture, and durability under all kitchen conditions. This durability is achieved via a high heart healthy 690 polyphenol level. It will tolerate high temperatures (>400 f) if needed and will last much longer than grocery store brands.
This pale green EVOO has a unique flavor typical of only the best Greek Extra Virgin Olive Oils. The creamy buttery mouthfeel up front is followed by a mix of fresh green leaf flavors and a slightly peppery finish. It will complement any salad with all types of vinegars. It’s a perfect choice for Chicken and Lamb dishes that usually feature Lemon and Oregano. Being bold, it will add great flavor to sauces. The fresh Greek EVOOs are also superb in a variety of Vinaigrettes, see our Vinaigrette Recipes.
Kalamata 100% Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Our new Kalamata 100% Extra Virgin Olive Oil is produced on a 5 generations small family estate. These ultra-premium olives are picked and pressed on the family-owned orchard in the foothills of Southern Kalamata Greece. Customers will appreciate the milder flavor compared to the other Greek oils, particularly the very balanced fruity and buttery flavor and texture. The medium profile 311 polyphenol is heart healthy without the bitterness and pungency one might experience with our Premium Ultra High Polyphenol Kalamata.
We are one of a handful of stores in the U.S. that has access to this limited production, sweet, medium intensity oil. While it will pair with all of our vinegar selections, this oil will be fantastic on salads with our Sicilian Lemon Balsamic Vinegar and our Lambrusco Wine Vinegar.
Koroneki 100% Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Koroneiki 100% Extra Virgin Olive Oil is a perennial favorite for many and adds to our line-up of Fresh Greek EVOOs. This is the Greek Olive Oil in use at many restaurants to give dishes the classic flavor customers expect. Like their other Greek varietals, this producer has milled a Koroneiki that is both fruity and buttery, with subtle notes of green grass and banana. The finish is bolder than the Kalamata 100% EVOO with a respectable 503 polyphenol level that those looking for heart-healthy cancer fighting Olive Oil will certainly appreciate.
Koroneiki is an all-purpose Extra Virgin Olive Oil that is delicious on salads paired with every kind of vinegar you choose. It does wonders for roasted vegetables, and can be used for light sauteing and frying. In addition, it can be used to make very tasty sauces and marinades.
Kalamata Premium Ultra High Polyphenol 100% Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Kalamata Premium Ultra High Polyphenol 100% EVOO is a specialty oil for those looking for the highest levels of polyphenols, especially oleocanthal. The polyphenol count was 1143 when milled and the oleocanthal came in at 900 mg/kg.
While this oil can be used in the kitchen, especially in high heat situations, it is best consumed as a natural good health supplement. High Polyphenol EVOO is recommended by Cardiologists, Internists, and Cancer Specialists for the excellent level of antioxidants that interfere with and neutralize free radicals. Experts recommend 1 or 2 tablespoons per day, either straight, or mixed with food, but not cooked.
